Wow, my cousin in US just told me about Equifax data breach and here I found about claiming credit. I just told him to check his eligibility and found out that he isn’t. That’s too bad. Thanks for this valuable post on the Equifax $125 settlement and how to check and then make a claim based on the terms that they have agreed to with the Government. I was not affected but have some friends that were when in 2017 they had that major data breach.
Although I was not affected, it did bring home to me once again just how vulnerable it can be when you use the internet and your personal data gets stored by smartphone appications, companies that have online websites, and even government websites.
This is one where the company should offer restitution to those affected by their lack of security. They gather tons of personal information and with that, there comes a responsibility to make sure it is stored in a secure manner. It is good that you have published this article on how to make a claim and I will most certainly send it over to my friends so they can take action!
I certainly agree. The more people who file this (or another) claim against them for such negligence should help to drive home that safeguarding our data is both the right thing to do and the most affordable!

I have heard of this breach by hackers on Equifax! But I didn’t think I qualified. reading your post has made me realize that my kids may have been victims! the post was very informative I will certainly use the information to see if we affected!

This particular breach specifically deals with the 2017 Equifax data breach. Definitely check each of your family members, as you may be surprised at just how pervasive the breach was!

Wow thanks! These sorts of things are important to know about as they could get swept under the carpet lots of times. Class actions keep companies accountable which is a good thing. With so much personal data being transferred by billions of people every day it’s good to know that accountability is out there.
