In the past, National Pancake Day was celebrated on Fat Tuesday / Mardi Gras, but this year the tasty event happens a week after Fat Tuesday. No matter when it falls on the calendar, it’s still the perfect time to enjoy a stack of fluffy pancakes!

National Pancake Day at IHOP is an annual promotional event where IHOP guests get free pancakes, chances to win free prizes, and opportunities to raise money for children’s charities in their area.
Everyone is invited to dine in and receive one free short stack of buttermilk pancakes. Generally, this should be good from 7 – 7 at most IHOP locations, but you should call to verify that your local restaurant is participating, as the official National Pancake Day website discloses that this is “at participating locations” and that “hours may vary”.
Free Pancakes at IHOP
The main event on National Pancake Day is obviously the free pancakes. Everyone gets a Free Short Stack of Pancakes in-restaurant on National Pancake Day with no signup required! Simply show up during the promotional hours from 7a-7p to claim your free short stack of pancakes
An IHOP short stack of pancakes is 3 stacked buttermilk pancakes. The value of this offer is approximately $7 (regular menu price is $6.59). You are welcome to add to your order to round out your meal and enjoy your other IHOP favorites.
Please remember to tip your server on the value of your food (not the final discounted cost), including the $7 freebie.
Additional IHOP National Pancake Offers
For 2023, IHOP is also offering a new reward for the first time ever! IHOP Rewards Members will earn double rewards points (2x PanCoins) on additional food items purchased on National Pancake Day!
In the past, IHOP has also offered themed prize giveaways on National Pancake Day! Check your rewards account and IHOP social media for any chances that may be available for this year’s event. Raise Money for Children’s Charities
IHOP uses this annual event to highlight and raise money for 3 children’s charities. Since 2006, IHOP has helped to raise over $30 million for these charities!
Annual goals often aim to raise over $4 million for Children’s Miracle Network and other local charities. Guests can donate on-check, with cash at donation boxes, or by purchasing a wall tag at the restaurant. All money raised during the IHOP National Pancake Day campaign stays local and supports the nearest children’s hospital associated with the charity partners.

Why don’t I live in America? I’d love to have a National Pancake Day in France! Yes, there’s Mardi Gras but you can actually eat whatever you want, provided it’s fat and/or sweet! I love free IHOP pancakes on national pancake Day. They taste great. The taste would take me to my grandma’s home where she used to give me pancakes for breakfast and those could make my day. Now that my grandma is gone I have the chance to recall the feeling of nostalgia.

I live in Canada but not far from the border, so I will talk with my husband and we’ll take a look what is the closest IHop to the border, so I keep my finger crossed! I think is a great idea, especially if it is made for a great cause. I am totally for this and everything it stands for.
