Hello there, This is an amazing roundup of doughnut deals that you have got here for National Doughnut Day. The krispy kream doughnuts looks pretty amazing and hopefully I can get some of the glazed ones when they are fresh and hot off of the line! I’ll start on June first with free doughnut #1 and close out the week of treats on June fifth with a free doughnut at the krispy kream.

This made me so happy to read because I love my sweets, it also really sucked though lol. As of 2-3 years ago, I can’t do gluten anymore. I’ve found a lot of great replacements for things, but I’ll tell you what, donuts are not one of them. They are just not the same as a good old fashion fluffy donut. You don’t know what you have until it’s gone has a whole new meaning for me these days lol.

    • Alyce says:

Aww, I have lived with people who had strict dietary restrictions and it can be a challenge to stick with the program where favorites are involved. However, you may still be able to indulge, as I noticed a lot of highly rated gluten-free doughnut options while doing research for this article. I’ll update with a section of some gluten-free options because I suspect there are a lot of people who would love to know about options that have such great reviews!!

I have to admit that I have little and no experience with a national doughnut day!  What a fun concept and a super good excuse to have a doughnut.  I am sure our local bakeries have some sort of Doughnut Day surprise. Small towns often find these events happening without them, so will be on the alert to see what is about.

I think that living off the major thoroughfares of the world make things like National Doughnut Day such an unusual sounding event that we forget that you who do live where these things are par for the course forget about important times like the first day of hunting season.  Friday night ball games, 4-H fares, the things that mark our days.

Finding fun reads like this one to give me a heads up about how to enjoy this event, even without a major outlet, or a service to get it delivered, is a prime find.  Might make it worth driving to where these offers are given and cash in on the specials available.  However, I do think I will probably settle for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a glass of Ice water on the back deck with my Hubby. Thank you for sharing this with me.

Hi Sami, I grew up in a small town and have wonderful memories of my time as a 4-H member and exploring nature!

We had a Dunkin’ Donuts and a couple of local doughnut shops. One of my favorite things as a kid was to go to Dunkin’ Donuts, pick out a doughnut from the giant display, and sit at the counter to eat it. The excitement of the sweet treat and getting to sit at swiveling bar stools was a huge event in those days!! 🙂

    Oooh, donuts!!  By the way, YAY to a Cafe Du Monde mention.  I live near New Orleans.  ^_^;

They have a really awesome donut chain down here in Louisiana.  Meche’s Donut King (or Ricky Meche’s Donut King) and it is freaking the BEST DONUTS EVER!  I’ll have to check out if they have a donut day special going on.  Thanks for letting us know about National Donut Day!

    • Alyce says:

Hi Selenity Jade! The New Orleans area is so beautiful and the beignets and coffee at Cafe Du Monde are legit!!

  5. Jerry says:

National donut day! Must be something american (lol). Of course, when you are a great donut fan, this information is absolutely fantastic. I did not realize there were so many choices. I wonder if there is a big difference in quality between donut shops. Is there a shop that stands out from the rest or are there the best quality shops? Or is Dunkin Donuts, which we have here in Thailand, simply the best?

    • Alyce says:

Hi Jerry, You are correct about this being an American “holiday” and that doughnuts are quite loved in the United States! Some people have an almost cult-like loyalty to their favorite doughnut and will passionately insist that their favorite is THE best.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Personally, my favorite doughnuts are the more fancy / gourmet creations from local shops like Sublime Doughnuts in Atlanta, GA and Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland, OR. However, I’ll admit that the amazing taste of a hot glazed doughnuts from Krispy Kreme are also quite a delicious treat! Yum!!

    • Alyce says:

It’s too early to know what the exact offers will be for National Doughnut Day 2020, but if it’s half as good as it was in 2019, then it’s definitely worth it to mark your calendar for the event (Friday, June 5th 2020)!

That sounds so tasty, now I am craving donuts! I love donuts not supposed to eat them but I splurge and have one every now and then so I do not go on a donuts binge. I could not believe how many people are donuts crazed in this country until I worked in a donuts shop years ago. If you run out of donuts on Saturday morning people get downright angry about it! Now I live way out in the country and have no donuts shops anywhere near me. We have a Walmart and we like the donuts from there but we would love some fresh krispe kremes. Will the Krispee Kreme website deliver to my door while they are fresh? Have they teamed with a delivery company? Seems everyone is startling to go this route. We are thinking of celebrating donut day! I love holidays, especially when you get sweets!

    • Alyce says:

Check with your closest Krispy Kreme restaurant to find out what delivery options are available to you. In some places they may offer their own delivery, and in other places the delivery may be handled by a third party company like GrubHub or DoorDash.

  9. Darrin says:

Okay, before coming upon this site I had never heard of a National Doughnut Day, but all of a sudden I have a craving for some Krispy Kreme! Sounds like a fun day, only I wonder if they will have a smaller showing this year since it is right on the heels of Planet Lockdown. In fact, some places may still be at that point in June. Anyway, it’s a great idea to get out and just enjoy the day. Coffee and doughnuts! All-time favorite combo meal, and I think it hits all 4 food groups!

    • Alyce says:

Let’s all hope that planet lockdown eases up soon and allows us to enjoy some free doughnuts on National Doughnut Day!

  10. Nuttanee says:

Omg, National doughnut day is right around the corner. I live in NYC and I wish that there is a Krispy Kream location, with the legit store here. Having the warm and see it made in front of you is everything. We have it but it is in the train station so it doesn’t count.

Anyways, back to the topic. Thanks for sharing the deal! I will use the code BE SWEET for Krispy Kreme and pick it up 🙂

If the covid-19 won’t let me go out and about, I am just going to get the baby cakes donuts maker and make it myself. so much fun!

    • Alyce says:

Sounds like a plan! I hope you are able to enjoy the “hot doughnuts now” at Krispy Kreme again soon!!

  11. Kirkman says:

i would love to go for free doughnuts on the national doughnuts day and get free doughnuts. events like this is a medium to show love and oneness among our selves. but i doubt if there will be any from walmart with the panic and lock down due to the corona virus pandemic. thank you for this

    • Alyce says:

Hi Kirkman, So far, other restaurants have continued with their National food celebrations (like National Burrito Day), so I’m expecting that National Doughnut Day will also be full of sweet doughnut offers too. Stay tuned for details (enjoy the Dunkin’ Donuts offers on Fridays or the Krispy Kreme offers on Saturdays for now).

  12. Feji ben says:

Celebrated annually on the first Friday in June, the day of the pastry was established in 1938 to honor the Salvation Army Donut Lassies, women who served the treats to soldiers during World War I.For my family its a very well repected day and i can wait for it to come…the only problem i have now is this pandemic i hope it would have solved by them as i have a lot of sales to make that day.

  13. PrettySophia says:

  14. Christine says:

My whole family loves donuts especially the Krispy Kreme donuts. Whenever we drive pass any Krispy Kreme store, we never missed stopping by.

With the “Friends and Neighbors” offer, there is no reason for us not to pick-up a dozen :). Actually, I have to buy 2 dozens so that I can have free 2 dozens with a smiley face donut in each. If not, my son and daughter will be fighting for the smiley face donut :).

    Thank you for the information.

    • Alyce says:

Hi Christine, Those smiley face doughnuts from Krispy Kreme are a nice touch!! Plus, I think we can all use the extra dose of joy in our lives right now! It’s also nice that this generous promotion is happening right now without having to wait for the deals on National Doughnut Day!

  15. Kenechi Obinna says:

Walmart dough is one of the best doughnuts I have tasted and it is something that always increase my appetite each time I take it. I don’t really know much about others listed in this article but I’m just okay with Walmart doughnuts. I love taking it together with my hot coffee.

    • Alyce says:

Coffee is the perfect complement to doughnuts and thanks for sharing the tip about the tasty doughnuts at Walmart! I haven’t tried the doughnuts there yet but it sounds like they are definitely going to be worth the trip!

  16. Smoochi says:

Thank you and i do feel enlightened by your article. i would also have to learn a couple of things from you as the website template is beautiful and really clear.this is an awesome article on some really great offers for national doughnut day. i was waiting for duckin’s doughnut offer but i do not think that it will be possible because of the covid 19 pandemic

    • Alyce says:

      Hi Smoochi,

Dunkin’ Donuts and Krispy Kreme are actually still open for takeout service (and delivery in some areas) and they are also both offering deals right now! No need to wait for National Doughnut Day — for a limited time, get freebies on Fridays at Dunkin’ Donuts and on Saturdays at Krispy Kreme. Enjoy!

  17. Michael Gravette says:

I love Krispy Kreme donuts.  I saw that they are coming out with the yeast version that they started with.  When I was a kid, the donuts were twice the size they are now.  I remember asking my wife’s father why Krispy Kreme donuts tasted so good.  He said it was due to the sweat dropping in the tub from the guy stirring the dough.  Not sure that is true, but they are good.  Nice article.  I will for the June deals.

    • Alyce says:

Hi Michael, When the Krispy Kreme stores / restaurants are open near me, they often have people lined up to watch the glazed donuts rolling through the open kitchen. The “hot doughnuts now” sign indicates that the a hot, fresh treats are ready — it’s a sign that can be hard to pass up!
